  1. When the US became independent from England, they got used to have another spelling references, such as Samuel Johnson firstly and the Webster Dictionary later. In the long term this means they had made up their proper style to spell some words in their own way. Therefore, nowadays we can distinguish between American and British English. You can easily understand this historical situation if you had read previously the awesome book "A Little Book of Language", by David Crystal, who explain this item perfectly. Brief and clear exposition about American spelling. I like it!

  2. It is very interesting the differences between american english and british english.
If you don't know it, you can be a bit confused when you try to speak very well, for example you are not very sure if it is the same (centre/center).
But I suppose it happens too in Spain because everybody don't call all things for the same name, and it would be a problem for the foreing people.

  3. Very interesting and enjoyable. As my schoolmates said in the book "A Little Book of Language" you can learn more things about this story and the origin of some words; and I'm also agree that in Spain we have this kind of problem because depending on the city or village, one thing has different names.
